USS Canopus (AS-34) was a submarine tender of the United States Navy, commissioned in 1965 and decommissioned in 1994. It was named after the star Canopus, which is the second-brightest star in the night sky. Canopus was designed to provide a wide range of support services to submarines, including maintenance, repair, and supply. The ship was equipped with extensive machine shop facilities, electronic repair equipment, and a medical facility.
